Laptop vs. Netbook Computer

February 8th, 2010

Netbook computers, being as they are sort of new on the scene, have a few other labels put on them including mini laptop computers or sometimes ultraportables. With the name notebook computer being synonymous with laptop.

The type of computers called netbooks, are regarded as being included in the subnotebooks classification, which is a rapidly - updating type of compact, lightweight, lower priced laptop computers that’s meant for basic computing and also the use of web-based applications (they are enabled to connect to the web wirelessly).

They’re sold more or less as supplementary devices that will compliment one’s ordinary computer resources. Still further particularized references include: small, lightweight, minimalist and cheap laptops; along with smaller, less expensive laptop computers.

Introduced during the later part of ‘07 - as being less sizeable notebook computers engineered for low weight and in the same way low cost - netbook computers left out the cd/dvd disc drive, made the decision to go with smaller screens and keyboards, and reduced functionality and computational capacity.

During the period since then, the netbook’s display dimensions been in the range of from a little bit less than 5 inches to a bit more than 10, and with their weight in the 1 kilogram (2. 2 pounds) range.

By the middle of end of the decade netbooks had become significantly easier on the budget than traditional laptop computers, to the point of having even been presented as being a free incentive on condition of a subscription to an Internet service plan by AT&T in Atlanta, Georgia

Within the brief time since their inception, computers known as netbooks have been increasing in size as well as capabilities, while in tandem notebook computers are being made lighter and decreased in size. Hence, physical traits like their measurements and how much they weigh will not be what can be said to make them different.

As it appears at present, maybe a Netbook-style computer can probably be described to be a smallish, lower-powered notebook that lacks an optical disc drive(cd/dvd player/burner). But that won’t be for too long either, seeing as optical disc drives are being manufactured ever smaller and will soon easily fit into a netbook computer. In addition computers will have wireless connectivity so good that external media like dvd’s and blu- ray disks can simply be done without.

So, for the present time, a netbook may best be described as a smaller, lower cost laptop minus an optical drive.
